A new cargobiking business has hit the roads, this time in Burlington, Vermont. One Revolution is a member-owned delivery service offering cargobike pick-up, delivery and advertising services covering about 50 square miles in the larger Burlington area. The company is operated by Mark Bromley, a 55-year-old architect, and a four-person crew and has quickly formed partnerships with a number of local businesses.
One Revolution is a “courier” service with an interesting twist. Using one of three specialized cargobikes, its riders transport not only packages but also Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares, catered meals, compost/recycling pick-up, promotional materials and more to customers in Burlington and surrounding towns.
The bikes used by One Revolution are a long john cargobike from Metrofiets in Portland, Oregon, with either a box or an open pallet for loads up to 400lbs, a flat bed trailer from Bikes at Work in Ames, Iowa, for loads up to 300 lbs, and a front-loading cargobike from Philadelphia-based Bilenky for loads up to 100 lbs. One Revolution has also developed a “passively vented” enclosure for the trailer offering full protection of fragile cargo and produce. Selling advertising space is part of the company’s business model and all cargobikes can accomodate business specific graphic signage.
One Revolution looks like another promising business venture powered by cargobiking. If you live in the area, check out their site and see if their services are for you. You can also “like” them on Facebook.
